Our nation is only as strong as its core components: families, neighborhoods, churches and other religious communities, marriage and the voluntary associations of many types that make for a vibrant civil society. We will act to:

Protect religious liberty and celebrate the role of religious institutions in the formation of our nation’s most cherished and most basic principles;

Move strongly toward the nationwide reversal of abortion on demand, by enacting a permanent, comprehensive “Hyde amendment” restrictions on abortion funding; enacting comprehensive and enforceable conscience protections; protecting the notification and consent right of parents regarding their minor children; banning all forms of human cloning; and increasing support of ethical and effective alternatives to embryo-destructive experimentation;

Protect marriage as the union of husband and wife, recognizing that children do best with a married mother and father and that our laws and our judges should respect and defend this most fundamental institution of society;

Protect the right of parents to direct the upbringing of their children and strengthen parental options to choose and finance the education of their children;

Preserve the Innocence of our children by increasing parental and local control over sex and civics education and by promoting abstinence education programs;

Preserve and strengthen “charitable choice” provisions that protect religious nonprofits;

Reform anti-poverty programs to ensure that they encourage personal development, work, and the marriage-based family;

Protect public recognition of our nation’s trust in God as the Author of our unalienable rights and freedoms;

Honor those who have died and those who have fought for our right and liberty.

Republicans Think They Can Run Away from Social Issues . . . Sign this Petition to Set Them Straight!

On the cusp of a resurgence powered by a dissatisfied public, the Republican Party is about to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Dazzled by the possibility of regaining power and position, they have wandered from the principles that distinguish our Nation and make it strong. We must send a message to Republican leaders and candidates that we will not accept this weak-willed retreat from social issues--religious liberty, traditional marriage, and the right to life must be defended from attacks and promoted as a social good. We will not accept a party that cannot see the link between moral values, fiscal conservatism, and a strong national defense. To abandon one will threaten the well-being of the others. Wanted

After the cowardice demonstrated by the Republican elites following recent court rulings against traditional marriage--and their determination to flee from social issues--it has become clear that the GOP is losing its focus and its way. What we need is a recommitment to faith, family, life, and marriage--Plank 1--this should be the foundation of the Republican Platform.

For that reason, we urge you to sign the petition below to three of the most influential--and most culpable--Republicans leaders who have demonstrated their intention to abandon these principles--Rep. John Boehner, House Minority Leader, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Chairman of the RNC Michael Steele. By joining this effort, you will be asking the Republican Party to make the principles and values of Plank 1 their first priority and putting them on notice that we will not tolerate elitist efforts to dodge the issues that are crucial to the future of our country.

The Republican Party has as strong tradition of unifying its supporters through its defense of our Nation's First Principles--limited government, fiscal restraint, a strong national defense, and a commitment to upholding moral values.

As you work to develop the goals and priorities of the Party in this election season and upcoming sessions of Congress, we ask that you honor this tradition by including Plank One's dedication to defending religious liberty, traditional marriage, and the right to life as a critical part of your promise to the people.
